INDIA MOVES UP TO A TOTAL OF 10 GOLD MEDAL IN COMMON WEALTH GAMES 2010
Continuing its outstanding performance , the Indian team has gone to collect a total of 10 gold medals in the commonwealth games 2010. being organized in Delhi.
On the third day of the common wealth games 2010, India has gone to clinch 5 gold medals which adding to the 5 gold medals earned on the second day of the common wealth games, takes the tally to a total of 10 gold medals.
As expected , the most of the medals for India came from the shooting competition. The first one came in 10 m rifle (individual) which was one by the world record holder Gagan Narang. He created a new world record to clinch the gold. The Olympic 2008 gold medalist, Abhinav Bindra has to settle for a silver medal this time in the same category.
In the women's 25 m pistol event , Anisha Sayyed bagged the gold medal creating a new commonwealth games record while her partner in the 25 m pairs event, Rahi won the silver medal in the 25 m pistol event.
Also in the 50 m pistol event, Indian Onkar Singh clinched another gold medal in the individual event after clinching a silver medal in the pairs event in the same category on day 2 in the commonwealth games.
The fourth gold came from the weightlifting department where Chanu of Indian won her second CommonWealth games making a new record at the CWG snatch lifting 90 kg. She won the competition with a total of 197 kg lifting 107 in clean and jerk event.
The fifth gold medal has come again from the Greeko Roman wrestling event in the 55 kg category . Indian Rajinder Kumar from Kurukshetra has defeated his PAK opponent to clinch another gold for India.
